About Pickens Animal Rescue
A Volunteer, not-for-profit GA 501©3 Corporation incorporated in 1997
Board of Directors – 3 Members
2011 Annual Operating Budget is $440,000
The Rescue Ranch – located on 6 acres in Talking Rock and offers temporary housing for 50 dogs and 20 cats awaiting permanent adoption. We have a weekly average of 20 additional dogs & cats that are in private foster care homes awaiting adoption or temporary placement at the Rescue Ranch.
All pets are spayed/neutered and receive vaccines prior to adoption.
All dogs receive AVID microchip identification prior to adoption.
6,390+ Animals have been placed into new homes in the last 11 years. That’s an average of 580 pets per year – Almost 2 pets per day!

Rescued Furniture and Thrift Store – established in 2008, the Thrift Store receives generous donations from the community. PAR’s Thrift Store sells good quality household items at incredible prices. All proceeds directly support PAR’s operating expenses.
PAW’s on Main – our after hours, full service vet clinic opened in October 2009 and is a part of our GA Non-profit 501c3 organization. The Board of Directors of Pickens Animal Rescue agreed that an alternative to low cost spay/neuter programs was much needed and that by owning their own vet clinic, they could reduce their own vet care budget dollars for fostered pets in the rescue/adoption program, and offer reduced cost spay/neuter surgeries to other rescue groups and individual pet owners. The office was designed to be comfortable for both pets and pet owners, to offer state-of -the-art equipment such as digital x-ray and lab, and to be available to service all your pet’s healthcare needs when other clinics are closed.
